What a place! The food is great and the service is even better! If you happen to be in South Fork, make sure to stop by and grab a bite. FYI, the Yeti mike shakes are awesome!!!
Friends and I stopped here after a rail bike adventure. Our party had 2 of the cheeseburgers with bacon and green chilies and Bison burger. The green chilie burger was cooked well and a decent portion size. The only issue I had is that I think they use Hatch green chilies from New Mexico and I am a Pueblo chilie snob..lol The Bison burger was cooked well and not over done. ALL baskets came with a drink and skinny fries. The staff was friendly and efficient, meal was served quickly and hot. Will be back when in the area.
We had plans to eat in a neighboring town but needed a quick snack so we stopped here. Small mom and pop place with outside seating. Burgers, fries, milkshakes, etc. We had the cheese fries and a shake. Super yummy! Staff was super friendly. Glad we came across this place!
There's a sign at the front of the Malt Shop that advises their customers to "Be Nice or Leave". Words that follow advise that they're working hard and to be patient with wait times and/or crowds. The Malt Shop wasn't really crowded yesterday, but our ice cream orders did take a good while to come out. Luckily for us, we were enjoying each others company and waited patiently while sitting on the picnic tables. This place walk-up and cash only, and in the winter car dining is probably the only option. My cherry malt was quite delicious and worth the wait. And it was a sweet coda to another fulfilling and fun Earthwatch Expedition.
We enjoyed our burgers, fries, and onion rings very much. They are a refreshing change from the trendy, gourmet burgers being "pushed" these days. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. We liked the small cut French fries. They were crisp and well seasoned. The onion rings had the proper "beer batter " type breading. Our only complaint is we ordered and paid for green chili cheese burgers, but when we got home with the meal, the green chiles were missing.
